From the black lungs of New Orleans, Kevin the Persian delivers nineties rock steeped in the pre-internet era with influences ranging from Alice in Chains to Metallica. "I grew up listening to music in a time when you shut yourself in a room and jammed with no distractions for hours on end. When I'm writing a song, I'm completely unreachable since I don't own a cell phone or have internet in my studio," says Kevin.
Kevin recorded his 2022 debut album Southern Dissonance in a dilapidated industrial building on the outskirts of New Orleans. Tom Haugen of Take Effect Reviews, in giving Southern Dissonance a 9 out of 10, opines: "If this were 1994, it wouldn’t surprise us if Kevin The Persian were on the Sub Pop label, and in 2022 it’s a breath of fresh air when so much music is computer generated, similar and uninspired. Certainly one hell of a debut, we should all be keeping an eye on Kevin the Persian’s next move."
Kevin has made his next move, releasing several follow up singles including the critically acclaimed National Anthem of Taiwan and the recently released 1992. "In 2025 I plan to continue releasing singles with an eye toward my next album, and also to keep playing solo acoustic shows around New Orleans," says Kevin.
